These departments play a critical role in the company. In addition, they lead the company to prosperity. They will achieve the company's goals if they are properly exploited. Therefore, a company must pay considerable attention to improve these departments. The purpose of this report is to identify these departments, then it will focus on how these departments will help a company in attaining its targets. Key Departments in Business a. Finance Department Money is the blood that keeps a business alive, a business operator should always know how healthy he or she is financially. (Canada’s business development bank, n.d.) Every company should have a finance department, which supports the company to avoid bankruptcy. It should use the money in a proper way. It finances the projects as well as aims to increase the capital besides financial profits. It makes the right investment decisions. It is responsible for financial planning as well as financial control. In addition, it is responsible for identifying the profit along with losing rates of the activities.
One of the important departments of a company is the human resource department. “The heart of an organization lies on its people. Without people, the day-to-day operation of a business would cease to function”. (Sevilla, 2015) It achieves the company's goals by developing staff skills and abilities. The aim of this department is to motivate employees to work creatively. It encourages them to work with each other to reinforce the teamwork concept. Raises staff efficiency by providing training courses to keep them up with the changes in business as well as computer fields. It constantly assesses staff, focuses on their weaknesses to develop and strengthen them. In addition, it is important to employ experienced workers. There is a huge difference between the experienced employee and the new employee who has just graduated. An experienced employee has a practical experience. He can deal with the problems that may face him in the company. He knows where the mistakes are, thus he can avoid them. Moreover, because of his experience, he can offer new ideas to develop a product. Furthermore, an employee should hold a certificate which relates to his position. For example, the best employee who can work in human resources is the employee who holds a certificate in human resources. Therefore, he is a specialist in this field. He has the knowledge that makes him perfect for the position.
A company should provide remarkable and novel service, to make it stand out. If the service has already been consumed, it is difficult for this service to succeed. Since, many companies have already provided this service. In addition, a company should provide various services that are available to all people. It should not supply a service to specific clients. If a company provides it for certain customers, it will reduce the chances of their expansion and spread. It is better to make it available for different ages. Moreover, it should choose a service that people need and desire, besides providing a service that is essential. There is no point in providing a service that is needless. In addition, it is useful to create products which all people can buy. A company can create an affordable product; moreover, it can create an expensive product. Thus, people who cannot afford the expensive product can buy the affordable one.
Purchasing department conducts studies that help a company make the right decision regarding purchases. It makes policies besides conditions for purchasing. It studies the situation of the market as well as predicting the status of the competing companies. It provides materials for the production process. The purchasing department tries to get the best prices for the raw materials needed for the production process. In addition, it purchases high-quality materials, to create products that satisfy all tastes, besides achieving more profits for a company. It recognizes the importance of suppliers; therefore, it attracts suppliers to deal with the company. It tries to rely on more than one supplier to ensure that the work is not delayed. It consolidates the relationship between the company and suppliers. Suppliers play an important role in the company in providing the resources it needs. It tries to achieve cooperation along with integration with the rest of the departments in the company.
Another crucial department is the marketing department. “This department, in particular, is the one that often brings the fastest outcome to a company”. (Gilkey, 2011) A huge budget must be invested in marketing. Therefore, distinct marketing brings numerous customers. Hence, it makes a company recognized as well as reputable. Thus, it is important to market for the product. A company can make an outstanding advertising campaign that ends up getting a high rank, which leads to gain people's trust. Subsequently, a company must make a successful plan to promote its services besides products. Moreover, a product should be desired by customers. Moreover, it should receive feedback from them. It should interact with them besides hearing their views about a product and how a product can be developed. This helps a company improve its products significantly. Therefore, Feedback is the key to developing the product. Accordingly, a customer participates in creating the product by expressing his opinion towards the product. This will result in gaining a customer’s satisfaction. Furthermore, a marketing department is responsible for promoting a company's products on various social media platforms. This will help a company to gain numerous customers. These activities, which are carried out by the marketing department, are very significant. If a company wants to take advantage of the marketing department, it should apply clear strategies. In addition, it should consider investing considerable time in marketing. f. Public Relations Department There are several roles played by the public relations department. One of these roles is releasing magazines along with newspapers. They aim to introduce people to a company’s role, services, as well as products. In addition, it organizes conferences that held by a company related to its news besides activities. It prepares news along with media announcements of a company's event. These roles of the public relations department indicate the importance of this department. In addition, it responds to customer inquiries besides questions. It receives customer complaints. Following up with complaints submitted to a company is important because these complaints allow a company to improve its service. A company should take into consideration the proposals made by customers; therefore, these suggestions are very helpful. A proposal can be a solution to a problem. It can be a new idea that may serve the company besides the customer. Thus, a customer is a participant in developing the company's performance. A customer improves the company's services through his suggestions and complaints. g. Management Department One of the significant departments that leads a company towards its goals is the management. Having an intelligent, experienced manager who knows how to run the company effectively is essential. All the key functions that have been mentioned need someone to manage them in a correct way. A manager must possess the characteristics of prudent leadership. He should have many skills, for example, leadership, persuasion, influence, planning, creativity, along with communication skills. The company can succeed only with wise and conscious management. A wise manager is represented by the following: 1- Making a successful approach that leads the company towards progress. 2- An approach must be clear, attainable, and within a time frame. 3- Encourage and motivate employees to love their job by rewarding the diligent employee. 4- Establish a respectable relationship between management and employees. 5- If a manager wanted to make a critical decision, he should listen to several opinions, discuss the decision along with analyzing it before making it. 6- Controlling corruption in the company through establishing surveillance cameras in all sections of the company, along with increasing the awareness of employees through sessions urging restraint besides self-monitoring. 7- A manager should influence employees by being a decent role model for them. 8- The manager should be aware of what is going on in the company. Conclusion In conclusion, the key departments in every company are a human resource department, production department, marketing department, management department, finance department, public relations department and purchasing department. A company should care about all these departments because they play a significant role in a business. Success is comprehensive, consequently, a company should succeed in all these departments. It should not care about a specific department and at the same time neglect other departments. These departments play a critical role in business. They can lead a company to its goals.
